First Floor

Gascoyne Place has two first floor dining rooms offering splendid views onto Sawclose Square and the Theatre Royal Bath, each with a seating capacity for up to 26 diners. Both rooms are perfect for pre- and post-theatre dining, intimate suppers and private functions alike.

Situated at the heart of the building, the main bar pays homage to the traditional ‘Public House’ and features a reclaimed Victorian backbar and hand-glazed tiles from Devon.

The bar offers a selection of English and European draught beers, ales and ciders with over 20 bottled beers, an extensive selection of spirits, soft drinks and cocktails. Almost 100 wines are listed, 30 of which are available by the glass, including champagne. Little wonder, then, that Gascoyne Place has earned a glowing reputation for being home to one of the best (and most realistically-priced) restaurant wine lists in Bath.

Situated above the main entrance, Bath restaurant the mezzanine seats up to 20 people. This light and airy space – the perfect spot from which to watch the world go by! – is ideal for mid-morning coffee, a light lunch or a casual supper with friends. The open plan staircase offers views all the way down to the original 11th century street, past vaults and subvaults serviced by a 1770’s cognac and claret hoist installed to lower massive 80 gallon casks into the large subterranean caverns.

Evocative, atmospheric, stylish and lit by flickering candlelight in the evening, the Long Lounge offers seating for up to 70 people. The Edwardian matchboard ceiling contributes to the warm ambience of the room, while centuries-old graffiti can be found amongst the bricks of the exposed, original medieval city wall. The lounge is very popular in the evenings, especially for the complimentary live Jazz sessions every Sunday. The Long Lounge is also perfect for parties and regularly hosts wedding functions!

Located on the ground floor next to the main bar, the corner snug offers a cosy pub atmosphere supplemented by a warming fire and seats up to 20 people. Views across Sawclose Square at street level make the Snug a lively lunchtime hotspot, especially popular with customers with children, those requiring wheelchair access and pre-theatre diners.
